Cisco "483 Too Many Hops"

Julien Chavanton

Hi, I have a situation where Opensip is fowarding to a Cisco box, the Cisco is returning :

SIP/2.0 483 Too Many Hops

If I dial from a registered sofphone the remote cisco accept and answer the call

I am wandering why the Cisco find a loop whe receiving this invite, I guess this could be related to the Via headers :

Re: Cisco "483 Too Many Hops"

Bogdan-Andrei Iancu
Hi Julien,

The too many hops error is generated (at least according to RFC3261)
when the Max-Forward hdr gets to 0 value -  it is not related at all
with any other headers.

So, check the MF header in the INVITEs you send to the cisco box.

Regards,
Bogdan
