Problem with 408 Request Timeout

mmarzuola

Hi all.
I have a problem with the 408 reply.
I have not set any timer (fr_timer, fr_inv_timer) of the tm module in opensips.cfg and when an user calls another user that does not answer, the proxy does not send the 408 Request Timeout, but the softphones ring for a long time.
I saw that the default value of the fr_inv_timer is 120 seconds and therefore after 2 minutes the 408 message should be sent from the proxy.

I have to configure something in the script or do something else?

Thanks in advance.

Marzuola Matteo.

Hi Matteo,

what version are you using?

is the callee client keep sending 180 replies?  id so, try to disabled
restart_fr_on_each_reply (
http://www.opensips.org/html/docs/modules/devel/tm.html#id271074)

Regards,
Bogdan

Hi Bogdan.
I'm using the 1.4.5 version of opensips. The clients are Sjphone.
I tried to set 0 the restart_fr_on_each_reply parameter but the 408 is not sent from the proxy.
This is a part of the trace:

Re: Problem with 408 Request Timeout

Also, can you send me the full logs (debug=6) for the entire call?

Regards,
Bogdan

Re: Problem with 408 Request Timeout

In reply to this post by mmarzuola

Hi Bogdan.
I changed the following lines in the script from:

failure_route[1] {
        if(t_was_cancelled()) {
                route(9);
        }
}

# Request route 'base-filter-failover'
route[9] {
        if(!t_check_status("408|500|503")) {
                xlog("L_INFO", "No failover routing needed for this response code - M=$rm RURI=$ru F=$fu T=$tu IP=$si ID=$ci\n");
                exit;
        }
}

to:

failure_route[1] {
        if(t_was_cancelled()) {
                route(9);
        }
}

# Request route 'base-filter-failover'
route[9] {
        if(!t_check_status("500|503")) {
                xlog("L_INFO", "No failover routing needed for this response code - M=$rm RURI=$ru F=$fu T=$tu IP=$si ID=$ci\n");
                exit;
        }
}

Now sniffing the traffic I see more 180 Ringing of the callee and the 408 Request Timeout is sent by proxy only after a time greater than the value of the fr_inv_timer (ex:fr_inv_timer=60 sec ==> 408 Request Timeout after 145 sec).

This is the complete trace:
